Place, Sex and the Dark Middle Ages

In the dark Middle Ages the sex itself was a capital sin and it was allowed to have sexual intercourses for only reproduction. However, sated sex was considered to defile the Church, consequently, the sinners had to severely pay for penitency. To enjoy sex in any form was forbidden even in marriage. Anyway, there were always both men and women to be willing to break the laws of the Church as sex has always been the most natural desire of the human being. For ordinary people wanting to opulate, a very simple and practical question emerged in the Middle Ages. They had nowhere to have sex even in a marriage as there where many children in the house of very few rooms thus couples had to find other places. In agricultural regions it was obvious that they used haystacks or stables to satisfy their sexual desires. Or believe it or not, during the day churches were the most deserted places, so the priests could witness sex daily. We may call it the medieval peep-show!
